A Weekend With George Washington for Missouri Teachers

This program, for Missouri teachers, is a four-day intensive study of George Washington and his world. Teachers reside on the grounds at Mount Vernon and attend sessions at the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington.

Teaching George Washington with 21st Century Standards Teacher Workshop (Pittsburgh, PA)

Join Mount Vernon’s Education Department, the Pennsylvania Department of Education, and the Senator John Heinz History Center for a free professional development workshop exploring how to teach about George Washington with 21st Century academic standards. Sessions will include Washington's role in Western PA, teaching history through art, and primary sources. 

The workshop will be held at the Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh, PA from 10:00am - 4:00pm 

Please Note: Registration is free, but requires a $20 deposit to be refunded after attending the workshop. Registration includes lunch, and 6 Act 48 credits will be offered. 

George Washington and the Constitution Teacher Workshop (Philadelphia, PA)

Join constitutional scholars and curriculum experts for a day-long workshop presented by the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon and the National Constitution Center.

Throughout the summer of 1787, George Washington presided over the Philadelphia Convention and together with the Founding Fathers, crafted the United States Constitution. Participants in this teacher workshop will learn about General Washington’s contributions to the early formation of our country while discovering new ways to engage students in the classroom.

The workshop will be held at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, PA from 9:00am-3:00pm (registration begins at 8:30am). 

Please Note: Admission is $10 and includes access to the museum, lunch, and a $10 voucher to the museum gift shop. Act 48 credits will be offered.
