Rights and Reproductions

Mount Vernon is pleased to make available images of the Mansion, outbuildings, grounds, and collections for use in publications, lectures, exhibitions, and research.

Requests

Media representatives, films, newspapers, and magazines interested in obtaining images may contact our Media Office or visit the News & Media section of our website.

All requests for use must be in writing and may be submitted by e-mail, fax, or postal service. Please include as much detail as possible about the publication (or other use): the title, author, publisher, publication year, print run, language(s), interior or cover use, and color or black and white reproduction.  Applicable fees vary based on the type of image, the print run, the placement of images, and other factors.

Images are available in a variety of formats including TIFF digital file, JPG digital file, color transparency, 35mm slides, and black and white prints.

Once a request is approved, Mount Vernon will forward an invoice and a reproduction rights agreement. Advance payment, via check or credit card, is required. Upon receipt of payment and a signed copy of the agreement, Mount Vernon will send or transfer the image and grant permission for reproduction.
