Visit described by the Regent, Mrs. Gay Hart Gaines, of Florida: “In the fall, we put past differences with English royalty aside and welcomed His Royal Highness Prince Andrew, Duke of York, to a ceremony at the yet-to-be-completed restoration of Washington’s Whiskey Distillery. This remarkable structure – now though to represent the largest whiskey distillery operation in 18th-century America – has been supported by very generous gifts from the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States.”
