Our teacher professional development opportunities focus on an inter-disciplinary approach to history education in the classroom, as well as incorporating educational best practices and Common Core and C3 History standards. Our Teacher Fellowships provide teachers with short-term research grants to produce classroom materials for a national audience.

Residential Weekends

A Weekend with George Washington is offered to teachers from Missouri and Virginia on separate weekends each Fall. Teachers reside on the grounds of Mount Vernon and participate in a shortened version of our popular summer Teacher Institute.

Regional Workshops and Conferences

Each year the Education Staff at Mount Vernon travel across the United States to host day long regional workshops for teachers. You can also find the staff at numerous regional and national education conferences each year.
