Support our goal for nationwide participation!

Mount Vernon has a strong commitment to teacher education.  Our professional development programs for K-12 teachers provide a unique, in-residence experience, right on the grounds of this historic estate. It is only here at Mount Vernon that educators can experience George Washington's world first-hand while participating in intensive periods of learning about Washington and 18th-century life, politics, economics, and culture from the nation's premier scholars and Mount Vernon's own experts.

We are giving teachers the tools to engage students in 21st century classrooms in a way that makes learning about Washington's life and legacy fun and memorable. With your help, we hope to offer scholarships so we never have to ask another deserving teacher to pay to participate in this one-of-a-kind experience. Your gift today, in any amount, will help sponsor a teacher and in turn, that teacher will go home and inspire a classroom of students to fall in love with America's great history.

Our goal is to be able to offer scholarships for teachers from every state. Taking our George Washington Teacher Institute to a more national scale will increase educators’ awareness and understanding of Washington-related education. Your support will ensure that Mount Vernon’s incredible teaching programs can reach the widest audience available, thus securing Washington’s legacy for future generations to come!
