Pick up the Virginia 250 Passport at sponsoring attractions, including George Washington’s Mount Vernon, and get a stamp for each location that you visit. Use this passport as a souvenir of your travels as you celebrate America’s semiquincentennial.
Passport holders receive a 15% discount at participating sites around the Commonwealth.
Presented by VA250 in partnership with the five signature sites—Mount Vernon, Colonial Williamsburg, Monticello, Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation, and the Virginia Museum of History & Culture—participants who visit at least 5 of the 70 participating sites across Virginia will be eligible for cash and prizes.
The Virginia 250 Passport is part of a statewide initiative to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution and U.S. independence.

Estate Hours
Mount Vernon is open 365 days a year, including holidays, with hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April through October, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. November through March.

Visit the Lives Bound Together: Slavery at Mount Vernon Exhibit
Explore the lives of the enslaved people at Mount Vernon with our new exhibit.
Within the quarters of the historic area, learn about the 317 enslaved people who lived and worked at George Washington’s five farms, gristmill, and distillery. Find out how enslaved people formed families, created tight-knit communities, earned money, and acquired personal possessions.
Step Back in Time with our Revolutionary War Encampment
Walk through Patriots Path—a Revolutionary War encampment—and talk with soldiers to learn about life in the 18th-century military.
At this hands-on attraction, you can touch the items inside soldiers’ and officers’ tents, wash clothes in the laundry yard, and examine cooking utensils used by women and children who traveled with the army.

This unique theater experience highlights Washington's role in the Revolutionary War, complete with snow, fog, cannon shots, and other 4D effects.
