Their visit began at the George Washington Presidential Library at Mount Vernon, where the Library’s executive director Lindsay Chervinsky displayed original letters and documents tied to Washington’s life. From there, the Fallons explored the Archaeology Lab, learning how artifacts unearthed on the estate help tell the stories of people who lived and worked there. They were also given a tour of Mount Vernon’s collections, where they explored Washington family objects and textiles.
The afternoon continued with a tour of the Museum’s exhibits, followed by a visit to the Patriots Path encampment where Franny met Revolutionary War interpreters who provided insight into 18th-century camp life. At Washington’s Tomb, the Fallons participated in a wreath-laying ceremony before a visit to the Farm. The visit ended with a tour through the outbuildings and Mansion, which included a behind-the-scenes look into the Washington Bedchamber—currently in the midst of a major restoration to make it truer to its 1799 appearance.
