Collect candy around the historic grounds and celebrate Halloween with 18th-century entertainment and activities.

All members visiting on Oct. 31 must have either a trick-or-treating ticket or must register to attend (for members not collecting candy).

General public tickets go on sale on September 14.

For adults (ages 12+) NOT collecting candy:

Go Trick-or-Treating at Washington's Historic Home

Collect candy in your special Mount Vernon treat bag around the historic grounds from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This bag is required to collect candy.

Candy includes 3 Musketeers, Dove Dark Chocolate, Life Savers Gummies, M&M’S Milk Chocolate, Milky Way, Twix, Skittles, and Snickers. While supplies last.

Please note that dogs are not allowed at this event.

See tradespeople create tools, utensils, and hardware to assist with preservation work and living history demonstrations around the estate.

Learn how textiles were made using spinning and weaving techniques at the spinning house.

Experience a Magic Show With an 18th-Century Magician

Watch conjuror Mr. Peter Gardiner present his illusions on the bowling green at 3 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. 

You may even get chosen to participate in a magic trick.

Take Home Fresh Baked Bread

See an 18th-century bake oven demonstration with Justin Cherry from Half Crown Bakehouse on the 12-acre field.

Watch a demonstration on the 12-acre field of the traditional process for making apple butter from fresh apples to a rich, flavorful spread.

Enjoy a Free Meal for Kids at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant

After trick-or-treating, enjoy a meal at the historic Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant with your family. 

Kids ages 12 and under can dine for free from the kids' menu from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Receive one free kid's meal for every adult entree purchased.

Listen to Musical Stories with traveling musician Robert Mouland at 3 p.m.
