Join us for an exclusive members-only evening at George Washington’s Mount Vernon and enjoy after-hours access to the gardens and grounds throughout the evening.
Additional outdoor highlights remain open for self-guided exploration until 7:30 p.m., including:
- Visiting the Farm or strolling along the wharf for views across the Potomac River
- Walking the Forest Trail
- Paying respects at the Slave Memorial & Cemetery
- Viewing the final resting place of George and Martha Washington at the Tomb
Note: The Mansion will be closed during this event.
No outside food or beverages are allowed, except bottled water.
- Members may pre-order a picnic (see below).
- The Executive Orders Food Truck will be open for a quick snack or meal.
Space is limited and complimentary tickets must be reserved in advance.
*Member-Only After Hours Picnics may be canceled due to inclement weather. If the event is canceled, any pre-purchased food and beverage will be automatically canceled and refunded.
Special Activities
June 22 - Raise a glass to history! Enjoy a special drink inspired by Martha Washington’s original Rum Punch recipe, served in a limited-edition commemorative cup – a keepsake of your evening at the General’s estate.

June 22 – Ready in a minute? Step into the shoes of a Revolutionary War Minute Man with our Time Trial challenge. This activity station is fun, fast-paced, and family-friendly—see if you’ve got what it takes to answer the call at a moment’s notice!
August 29 – Savor the sounds of summer! Enjoy a lively evening on the lawn with toe-tapping tunes from local band Island Time. Bring a blanket, gather with friends, and let the music set the tone for a perfect evening at the General’s estate.

Picnic Order Deadlines
Picnics must be purchased by 5 p.m. on the Tuesday before each picnic.

Seating
Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or small lawn chair to sit on the grass as seating is not provided.
Tents, tables, pop-ups, grills, beach or free-standing umbrellas, coolers, and glass containers are not permitted.

Pet Policy
Please note, while we enjoy our four-legged friends during the daytime, pets are not allowed on the grounds for evening events.

Bag Check
For the safety of all guests, staff, and volunteers, as well as the preservation of this historic property, bag checks will be conducted at the entrance.
Please allow extra time for this upon arrival and thank you for your cooperation.
