Celebrate with the General

Meet General Washington for hoecake demonstrations with Half Crown Bakehouse on the 12-acre field from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Plus, pick up fresh baked bread all day.

At 1 p.m., enjoy birthday cake with him in the Vaughan Lobby (while supplies last). 

From 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., create your own birthday card for George Washington on the bowling green.

Attend the USCIS Naturalization Ceremony

Observe a moving ceremony in which people from across the world become U.S. citizens (ceremony begins at 11 a.m. in the Ford Orientation Center's Smith Theater).

Hear Live Musical Performances

Watch the United States Air Force Strings Concert

Listen to a concert by the United States Air Force Strings at 2:30 p.m. in the Smith Auditorium.

Listen to Music of the Revolution

Join our resident fifer for a musical demonstration and discussion of fife & drum music, and its importance during the American Revolution at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on the bowling green.

Hear Children's Story Time

Visit the Smith Auditorium at 1:30 p.m. for a reading of George Washington’s Birthday: A Mostly True Tale.

Visit the Discovery Stations

Stop by the discovery stations located within the historic area for more information about George Washington's upbringing, as well as the unprecedented recent discovery of 35 preserved cherry bottles.

Dinner from the Mount Vernon Inn (Dine In or Takeout)

In honor of George Washington's birthday, the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant is offering a special menu, Feb. 15-22.
