1. Washington’s formal schooling ended by the time he was 15.
2. His actions sparked the French and Indian War.
3. He loved to dance.
4. Washington was an innovative farmer, who designed design a new 16-sided, two-story threshing barn (a replica barn can be seen at Mount Vernon).
5. His whiskey distillery was one of the largest in America in 1799. Visitors to Mount Vernon can sample his whiskey at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant.

Mount Vernon is still owned by the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association today and does not accept government funding.
