Take Home George Washington's Limited Edition Whiskey
In fall 2025, Mount Vernon debuted a special release: Commander-in-Chief Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey.
This whiskey was crafted on-site at George Washington’s Distillery, where traditional copper pot stills, wooden mash tubs, and historic techniques preserve Washington’s legacy of craftsmanship and innovation.
A Label Steeped in History
The custom label features an illustration of Washington inspecting his troops in Cambridge, as well as the Commander-in-Chief standard, a blue flag bearing the iconic six-pointed stars that marked Washington’s presence on the battlefield.
Raise a Glass to Washington’s Legacy
This release brings together two of George Washington’s legacies: his leadership during the Revolutionary War and his entrepreneurial spirit. By using the same methods practiced in the 18th century, we honor both the man and the moment.

Holiday Closures
Distilled spirits cannot be purchased at The Shops at Mount Vernon or at the Gristmill Shop on Easter, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
According to Virginia law, distilled spirits may only be sold on-site when Virginia ABC retail stores are open. We are not permitted to sell distilled spirits at our retail stores when ABC stores are closed.
These closures do not apply to our online store whiskey.mountvernon.org. Our distilled spirits can be purchased online 365 days a year.
