Safety Measures

  • Social Distancing: We ask guests to maintain 6-feet of social distancing.
  • Face Coverings: Guests and staff will be required to wear face coverings when indoors and outdoors when social distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Hand Sanitizer: We have installed hand sanitizer stations around the estate as well as signage promoting proper hygiene.
  • Enhanced Cleaning: Mount Vernon's staff provide regular enhanced cleaning in high touch areas throughout the day.

To better prepare you for your visit, we have created the following video that outlines some of our new procedures.

Policies for Face Coverings & Bags

Face Coverings

Our face coverings policy is in accordance with the requirements of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

We require that all guests over the age of 5 wear face coverings:

  • upon arrival at the estate
  • indoors
  • in spaces where social distancing cannot be maintained

If guests are maintaining social distance while exploring the grounds, face coverings are not required.

Health Conditions

Face coverings are not required for persons with health conditions that prohibit wearing a face covering.

We recommend limiting bags to those that are clear, such as a one-gallon freezer bag, to allow our team to safely conduct bag checks.

If your bag is not clear, you must open your bag and show the contents to our security staff upon entry.

Bags must not exceed 16" x 16" x 8".
