Private tours of Mount Vernon enable guests to receive a more personalized experience, customized based on your interest with an expert guide.  

VIP Tours (Up to 5 Guests)

$750 per group*

Offered seasonally, July through February, Monday through Friday, with a 9 a.m. arrival.

Guests are invited to explore behind the scenes at Mount Vernon over two-hours with a private guide. 

Highlights include:

  • Access to the mansion, including the cellar
  • Stroll through the grounds and gardens
  • A customized in-depth experience
  • Finish with refreshments and snacks

During this 60-minute exploration, go behind the scenes in the Mansion, discover George Washington’s unique plan for his gardens and landscape, and learn about the fascinating history of Mount Vernon’s outbuildings and why they are still standing.

Upon arrival, let your private tour guide know of any particular interests that you have in and around the historic area.

Explore the Mansion, tomb, and other areas of the estate online with a private tour guide. Tours last up to 2 hours.

Your tour will be customized to your interests. Some of the options we can offer (not all in one session) are:

  • A private tour of all three floors of the Mansion, including the cellar
  • A chat with a character from George Washington's world
  • A visit to the distillery where George Washington made his whiskey
  • A music program with our resident fifer
  • A private specialty tour, such as National Treasure
