Admiral Tōgō Heihachirō (1848–1934) was a celebrated Japanese naval commander best known for his decisive victory over the Russian fleet at the Battle of Tsushima. He visited Mount Vernon in 1911, and was accompanied by a group including the Japanese ambassador to the United States.
