Join educators from the History Colorado Center and George Washington's Mount Vernon to explore his life, legacy, and relevancy through primary source analysis and the new exhibit Moments That Made Us. We will examine local, state, and national history through multiple perspectives and discuss the lasting impact of our first president.

Meet the Educators

Maddie Sisson

Maddie Sisson is a museum educator with a passion for making history accessible for everyone. She received a Joint Bachelor’s Degree in History from William & Mary and the University of St. Andrews and her Masters in Teaching in Museum Education from George Washington University. She has served as Mount Vernon’s Lead Specialist for Family Learning from June of 2023 to July of 2025 when she became the Manager of Teacher Learning. When not at work, she can be found planning trips, exploring a new museum, or curled up with a book and her cat, Minerva.

Josie Chang-Order

Josie Chang-Order, Ph.D., is the School Programs Manager at the History Colorado Center in Denver. She received her Ph.D. in Educational Foundations, Policy, and Practice from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2019. Originally from Michigan, she first came to Colorado in 2006 to teach archaeology in the southwestern part of the state. At the History Colorado Center, Josie manages educational offerings for K-12 students and their teachers. Her hobbies include sewing, playing video games, and hiking with her husband and their dog, Oni.
