Enjoy this modern Butterscotch Goodies recipe. 


  • 4 medium eggs
  • 2 cups firmly-packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons double-acting baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups black walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Powdered sugar


Beat eggs with beater in top of double boiler until blended. Blend in brown sugar and butter. Place this over rapidly boiling water, stirring constantly, just until hot (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat. Sift together flour and baking powder. Add all at once to cooked mixture. Mix until well blended. Stir in walnuts and vanilla. Turn into well-greased and lightly floured 13x9-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
