• 3 pound brisket, fat removed
  • 1 package onion soup mix
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/3 cup prepared horseradish (optional)
  • Directions

    Place brisket in large piece of heavy foil in large pan. Sprinkle onion soup mix on top and pour over the red wine. Wrap up foil tightly. Put in 325 degree oven and cook 3½ hours. When done, pour off liquid, strain (add the horseradish if you wish) and thicken with the flour. Taste for seasoning. Pass sauce with sliced meat.

    Serves 6 to 8
