Enjoy this modern Beef Brisket recipe.


  • 3 pounds brisket, fat removed
  • 1 package onion soup mix
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/3 cup prepared horseradish (optional)


Place brisket on a large piece of heavy foil in a large pan. Sprinkle onion soup mix on top and pour over the red wine. Wrap up foil tightly. Put in 325-degree oven and cook 3½ hours. When done, pour off liquid, strain, add the horseradish if you wish, and thicken with the flour. Taste for seasoning. Pass sauce with sliced meat.
