Forty-five years after his visit to Mount Vernon in 1970, Prince Charles returned to the estate with the Duchess of Cornwall Camilla Parker Bowles.

During this visit, Prince Charles was introduced to interpretative sites that were not in place at the time of his previous visit. This included several heritage breed animals, as well as the farm site and treading barn—all of which intrigued the Prince.

Following this visit, Prince Charles met with President Obama in the Oval Office. During a photo op, the Prince was overheard telling President Obama:

You know what was nice...going back to Mount Vernon. It was fantastic...it is special that spot...
