3D rainbow glasses offer a stunning, multi-color patriotic spectrum. Look at lights after putting them on and watch the fireworks dazzle in a prism-like effect.
Meet George Washington Before the Show
6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Join George and Martha Washington inside the Interpretive Center for an interactive living history experience.
Then, hear special remarks from General Washington at the Piazza as he kicks off the fireworks extravaganza.
Attend a Wreath Laying at the Washington Tomb
6:45, 7:15, 7:45 & 8:15 p.m.
Walk down to visit the Washington Tomb for a special wreath-laying; this event is one of the few times this area is open in the evening.
Experience 18th-Century Fun & Entertainment
6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Experience a variety of 18th-century activities:
- Learn popular dance styles by joining in on dancing demonstrations in the greenhouse.
- See blacksmiths forging tools, utensils, and hardware in the historic area.
- Play tavern and lawn games, like Shut the Box, Captain's Mistress, Wood Cup & Ball, Game of Graces, bowling, and hoops on the bowling green.
Hear Live Patriotic Musical Performances
Band of the Foreign Legion

See the Musique de la Légion étrangère (Band of the Foreign Legion) present a concert each night on the bowling green.
National Concert Band

Let freedom ring with a live performance by the National Concert Band on the east lawn.
Walk Through History at a Revolutionary War Encampment
All Day
Experience a different interpretation of a military encampment and learn more about the way the army lived from the First Virginia Regiment in the historic area.

Seating, Safety & Pet Information
Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or small lawn chair to sit on the east lawn. Seating is not provided.
Wagons/carts, oversized chairs, tents, tables, pop-ups, grills, beach or free-standing umbrellas, coolers, and glass containers are not permitted.
All items and bags will be subject to search upon entrance.
Please note: While we enjoy our four-legged friends during the daytime, pets are not allowed on the grounds for evening events.
