A More Perfect Union: George Washington and the Making of the Constitution
Exciting live action footage and cutting edge animation tell the story of the creation and ratification of the United States Constitution. Revolutions throughout history have descended into bloody chaos or fallen under the sway of dictators. Our founding fathers, led by George Washington, faced many challenges in the creation of the document that became the foundation for our more perfect union.
Teaching the Constitution
The U.S. Constitution contains many complicated ideas and concepts that can be hard for students to grasp. This resource leverages the strong imagery of Mount Vernon's video A More Perfect Union: George Washington and the Making of the Constitution to help connect the concepts that shaped our nation's government in order to reach students in new ways.
East Lawn Slope Damage
On August 11 and 12, 2017, severe storms came through our area, and we experienced heavy rains in a very short amount of time. This unusual amount of rain has had a devastating impact on the estate resulting in erosion at the ha-ha wall on the lawn overlooking the Potomac. A large section of that wall was washed out.
Right now, we are asking for your help. We face significant costs as we work to repair the wall and address the ground erosion that caused its collapse.
