• 8 slices thin white bread
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • Orange marmalade, as needed
  • Directions

    Thin crusts from the sliced bread. Melt the butter and, with a pastry brush, coat both sides of each slice of bread. Spread 4 buttered slices with marmalade and top with other 4 slices. Toast the sandwiches under the broiler or in a frying pan. Cut into strips or squares. Serve hot.

    Yield: 12 to 16 sandwiches
