C-SPAN captured the December 18, 1999 reenactment of Washington's funeral - on the 200th anniversary of that doleful event.
Over 250 reenactors at Mount Vernon, including descendants of Washington and his slaves, recreated the funeral of George Washington the mark the 200th anniversary of his death. Several participants read remarks by Washington’s contemporaries expressing sympathy for his death, while others, dressed in period clothing recreated the remarks made at the funeral.
