Special Tours of George Washington's Presidential Library Now Available

MOUNT VERNON, VA – The new Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington is now open for tours! Led by Mount Vernon tour guides and Library staff members, this new tour will offer access to the main floor of the much-anticipated center for scholarship about George Washington, Colonial America, and the Revolutionary Era. View rare books and manuscripts, special collections and art, research resources, and one-of-a-kind design details such as custom-created busts of the Founding Fathers. Tour includes access to: Main Reading Room, Rare Books & Manuscripts Room, Open Stacks, Conference Wing, and Reception Hall which includes a gallery of presidential porcelain.

Tours depart from the Donald W. Reynolds Education Center & Museum lobby at 1:30pm on November 19, December 3, and December 17. Additional Library tours may be added in the future. The Library tour is included in Mount Vernon general admission. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis; these tours are limited in capacity. The total length of the Library tour is one hour which includes a 10-minute walk to and from the Library.
