MOUNT VERNON, VA – George Washington’s Mount Vernon invites guests on June 27 to enjoy an evening of family fun and fireworks along with patriotic music to celebrate our nation's founding. Independence Fireworks event at Mount Vernon is limited in capacity to allow for safe social distancing.  Enjoy performances by the National Concert Band and view the five-minute firework display over the Potomac River. Visit Washington’s Tomb at night – this event is one of the few times this area is open in the evening.

Bring a blanket and enjoy food and drink from the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant available for purchase. Two picnic options are available for pre-order: pre-packaged box: $28 (for two guests), which includes a fruit & cheese box, half baguette, hummus, freshly made cookies, and a bag of Route 11 chips. The premium picnic basket: $130 (for four guests) includes a picnic basket, blanket, fruit & cheese box, charcuterie box, baguette with a side hummus, Route 11 large bag of chips, pasta salad, Italian sub, and a chicken salad sandwich. Concessions will be available for purchase on the day of the event. Outside food is not permitted on the estate.

Free parking is available on site. Gates will open at 6 p.m. Tickets for Independence Fireworks are now available. Cost: $30-$40 for members and $35-$45 for non-members. During this event, guests are asked to maintain a distance of at least six feet apart, and face coverings will be required.
