Mount Vernon Celebrates Virginia Spirits Month with Discounts and a New Whiskey Festival

George Washington Whiskey Festival – November 9

MOUNT VERNON, VA – George Washington’s Mount Vernon celebrates Virginia Spirits Month by offering a discount on its 375 ml bottles of spirits made at George Washington’s Distillery, located three miles from the first president’s home. Throughout the month of September, receive 20% off all 375ml bottles of whiskey and brandy. Spirits are available for purchase on site only. New this year: Join Mount Vernon for its George Washington Whiskey Festival on November 9 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Meet titans of the whiskey industry, taste spirits, and learn more about how Washington’s whiskey was made. In 1799, George Washington’s distillery produced nearly 11,000 gallons, making it one of the largest whiskey distilleries in America at the time. At the Distillery site today, costumed distillers take visitors through the historic process of whiskey-making in this reconstructed 18th-century distillery. Visitors can watch costumed distillers operating copper stills, stirring mash tubs, and managing the boiler as they demonstrate 18th-century distilling.
