You might not know this, but Martha Washington had a husband before George Washington, Daniel Parke Custis, who passed away in 1757. Shortly after his death, Martha found love again and met George Washington in 1758, marrying in December that year. Until this point, Martha had spent her life living in New Kent County, Virginia. In the spring of 1759, George and Martha left the Williamsburg area, and made the move to Mount Vernon, George Washington's home. In this video, witness the first time Martha Washington laid her eyes on Washington's estate.
