The 18th century brought an insurgency of culture to the Virginia table. Feasting was quite common to the upperclass with a variety of foodstuffs and drink. By the end of the American Revolution, there is a definable decline of British influence as well as the unreliability of the young country's own resources to trade. The importance of preserving, seasonality, and how to put food on the table is a fascinating story -- maybe more so than whose table the food sat upon. Chef Justin Cherry will join Steve Bashore in conversation to provide a fascinating look at how early Americans celebrated around the table.
