Collect candy around the historic grounds and celebrate Halloween with 18th-century entertainment and activities.

All members visiting on Oct. 25 must have either a trick-or-treating ticket or a complimentary grounds pass (for members not collecting candy).

Tickets go on sale to the public on September 8.

Go Trick-or-Treating

Collect candy in your special Mount Vernon treat bag around the historic grounds. This bag is required to collect candy.

Please note that candy may contain peanuts or tree nuts. Supplies are subject to change. While supplies last.

Show Off Your Costumes

Watch your children in a costume parade on the historic grounds at 4 p.m.

Snap a Selfie

Take a family photo at our straw bale selfie station in front of the Mansion on the bowling green. Share your snapshot with us on social media using #MVHalloween.

Greet Lady Washington

Visit Martha Washington in the upper garden and learn about her life at Mount Vernon.

Explore the Historic Area

  • Stop by the Discovery Cart along the north lane in the historic area for a hands-on learning activity.
  • Watch sparks fly in demonstrations at the blacksmith shop.

See 18th-Century Entertainment on the Bowling Green

  • Listen to Musical Stories with traveling musician Robert Mouland.
  • Hear Music of the Revolution, featuring the fife and drums, at 2:30 p.m.

Participate in Activities on the 12-Acre Field

  • Help with soap-making using 18th-century techniques.
  • Learn about Mount Vernon's horses and how we care for them.
  • See an 18th-century bake oven demonstration with Justin Cherry from Half Crown Bakehouse.
