If you would like to provide a better transcription you can submit one at: http://www.mountvernon.org/video/send-us-your-transcription/ hi I'm uninsured downer and I'm crew chief of the Archaeological Survey taking place in the slave cemetery here at Mount Vernon the goals of this project or to locate the number of variables that are on this ridge as well as what their space relationships are so in order to locate a great shower what we have to do is just take off the first few layers of soil and we don't have to go down that far is usually about six to eight inches and what we do at that point is we can see the outline of a grave shift which is a hole that was a dog when the burial was first intern so far we found a total of twelve great chefs as a result of this archaeological survey eight of those great shot appeared to run in a single line down the center of this ridge another interesting fact is that so far all of these great shots we found appear to be aligned east-west so their feet are pointing to the west there had to the east and that's in accordance with both some Christian and west african tradition so far we found numerous prehistoric artifacts through archaeological survey Mount Vernon's once inhabited by many Native Americans long before the washingtons ever call this place home we believe this ridge this cemetery is now situated on was once used as a workshop for a work site for the production of stone tools I encourage you to come out to archaeological site next time you're visiting Mount Vernon we're gonna be digging through the month of October and feel free to ask questions while you're here
