Headed "Gen. Washington" this manuscript relates to land taxes George Washington accrued on property in Maryland during the Revolutionary War. The figures on this document match the amounts requested by Sheriff Cawood. The document says "assessed Levy" and records taxes from 1779-1782. It specifically lists types of currency used and describes amounts owed in tobacco, red money, state money or specie. The bottom of the sheet carries the mathematical calculations for exact amounts due.
