On the lawn in the foreground are two groups of people and a man standing alone, top hat in hand, looking directly at the viewer. Trees frame the image in the foreground on the right. A couple sits together on the far right of the piazza and two men converse while leaning against a pillar. Boats are pictured on the Potomac River in the distance in the far left of the image. At the bottom left of the sheet, below the image is an impressed seal with the words: “IN AID OF THE LADIES OF MOUNT VERNON ASSOCIATION”.
