Two clusters of trees in the foreground extend almost the height of the print and frame the house on either side.The Potomac River appears in distance to the left, with two sailing vessels. A United States flag flies from a flagpole on the east lawn. Sunlight from the east streams onto the piazza. Low vegetation covers the foreground.
