Visit fully functioning reconstructions of George Washington's Distillery® and Gristmill, located 2.7 miles from the estate’s main entrance.

See where Washington produced flour and cornmeal, and step into the distillery where we make George Washington's whiskey today.

The Distillery & Gristmill are open April-October. Shuttles run to and from the main estate.

Meet the Animals Who Live at Mount Vernon

Visit with the animals who live at Mount Vernon, such as Ossabaw Island Hogs, Dominique Chickens, and Red Devon Cattle.

By the end of March, we generally have more than 20 newborn lambs. Mount Veron raises Hog Island sheep, a rare breed that is native to Virginia and dates back to the 1600s.
