In honor of the First President of the United States – His Excellency George Washington – the Four County Quilters Guild of Maryland will be exhibiting Cherry Blossom themed quilts.

Martha Washington's Legacy

While the playful patriotic theme recalls the myth of Washington and the cherry tree, the exhibit also celebrates Martha Washington and her quilting legacy.  Mount Vernon holds three extraordinary pieced quilts by Mrs. Washington, the only ones currently known to have survived.

Reproduction Martha Washington Quilt

During the show, guests will have an opportunity to see and learn more about a reproduction of one of the original Martha Washington quilt tops being made by guild member and expert hand-quilter Cecil Marzulli.
