Mount Vernon is open to visitors throughout the inauguration week.  We look forward to seeing you.

Some of George Washington’s most iconic leadership moments are those when he steps away from power, separating himself from the leaders who came before him—and even after him.

In this online lecture titled Teach Them How to Say Goodbye”: How George Washington Became the Political Ideal by Giving Up Power, hear Craig Bruce Smith discuss Washington’s vision of political leadership and the importance of character in leading.
