K. Allison Wickens, Vice President for Education, joined the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon in the summer of 2014. She represents Mount Vernon and the Washington Library in national discussions about history and civics education. Combining current trends in education and recent academic historical scholarship, she oversees the K-12 initiatives that operate out of the Library. These include an extensive slate of Professional Development offerings for educators, online and distance learning materials for classroom application, and signature student leadership and inquiry-based programs.
Joseph Stoltz is a historian and the Deputy Director of Leadership Programs at the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon. He is also the author of A Bloodless Victory: The Battle of New Orleans in History and Memory.
