• 2 1/2 cups water
  • 2 cup sugar
  • 2 large oranges, rind and juice
  • 6 lemons, rind and juice
  • 1 cup chopped mint
  • Green food coloring, optional
  • Directions

    Combine sugar and water in pan and boil 10 minutes. Squeeze oranges and lemons and put juice, rind and mint in bowl. Pour over hot syrup, cover and let stand 2 hours. Strain and cool. Can be stored 2 weeks. To serve, put 3 tablespoons in 8-ounce glass and add soda or ginger ale. Add 1 drop of coloring, if desired. Whiskey can be added.

    Yield: 1 quart
