Please join us for a special evening celebrating 18th Century Holiday Traditions!

Current K-12 teachers from the District of Columbia, Virginia, and Maryland are invited to a night at George Washington's Mount Vernon, just for them. Teachers will have the opportunity to tour the historic Mansion by candlelight, listen to traditional 18th-century holiday music, and celebrate the season with hors d’oeuvres and drinks hosted by the Mount Vernon Education Department and the Washington Library.

This year's program will feature David and Ginger Hildebrand from The Colonial Music Institute who will perform a lively mixture of carols and old wassailing tunes with colonial songs and dance melodies, all played on appropriate period instruments. Commentary between selections sets the scene and illuminates the cultural context of 18th-century music in early Virginia, specifically at Mount Vernon.
