George Washington's Birthday Party

Gather in the comfort of your own home to salute General Washington with an online program featuring performances and stories from actors, musicians, and historians.

A highlight of the celebration includes a birthday toast delivered to General Washington.

Proceeds from this event will support the restoration and preservation of George Washington's beloved home, Mount Vernon. Mount Vernon is not a government-funded park or agency. Instead, we rely on the generosity of friends like you for every dollar needed to save George Washington's historic estate.

A Long-Standing Tradition

Since the Revolutionary War, people have celebrated George Washington’s birthday with parades, performances, and dances.

In 1947 the Mount Vernon Citizens’ Association was formed for the single purpose of holding a birthnight “supper and ball” in recognition and celebration of George Washington’s Birthday. Next year will mark the 74th anniversary of the Birthnight Ball and Supper, a tradition that over the years has brought us together, raised funds, and increased awareness of this most important day.

In an effort to keep our community safe, there will not be an in-person Birthnight Supper & Ball in 2021.
