Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Camp Fire members in uniform are invited to use our complimentary Scout Booklet during their visit. The Scout Booklet is designed to help your Scouts make the most of their trip to Mount Vernon. It provides introductory information on George Washington and his Virginia plantation, detailed information on the outbuildings and grounds, and suggestions for activities, such as Land Surveying.
We will issue a FREE admission ticket between November 1 and the national observation of Washington’s Birthday to all Boy Scouts of America and Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. who wear their uniforms or official membership pins to Mount Vernon. During this period, Scouts are invited to participate in a wreathlaying ceremony at General Washington’s Tomb. Two registered leaders, in uniform or with identification and on a visit with their unit during this time, will be admitted at the reduced student rate. Additional adults will be charged the regular adult rate. Regular admission rates apply at other times of the year.
Upon completion of activities, the following patches and pins can be purchased at the Gift Shop:
Mount Vernon Historic Trail Patch
George Washington: Pioneer Farmer Patch
Mount Vernon Surveying Patch
George Washington Reading Pin
George Washington Tomb Pin (Wreathlaying)
Mount Vernon Surveying Pin
