Mount Vernon has been owned and operated by a private non-profit organization, the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, since 1858. Mount Vernon accepts no government support and is maintained entirely by fees from admission tickets, retail and food sales, and donations from patriotic Americans.
Mount Vernon accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express at the Main Gate, Shops, the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant and the Food Court.

Please print your tickets in advance of your arrival. You will need your printed tickets to enter the Estate. Transportation to the Distillery & Gristmill:
The Distillery & Gristmill is located just three miles south of the Estate and does require that visitors provide their own transportation. Bus service is also available between 10:00am and 5:00pm. The Fairfax Connector Bus #152 boards in front of the Mount Vernon Inn at 42 minutes past the hour every hour. Returning to the Estate, the Fairfax Connector Bus #151 boards on the hour every hour. The National Treasure Tour at Mount Vernon
March 15 - October 31: 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 3:00 p.m.

We have created an entire "National Treasure Tour" where visitors can take an hour-long walking tour that includes behind-the-scenes information about areas where "National Treasure 2: Book of Secrets" filming took place and how these locations were used during George Washington's time, including the basement! Sightseeing Cruises on the Potomac River
See Mount Vernon from a new view! Relax and enjoy a 40-minute narrated excursion along the Potomac River. Available Tuesday through Sunday at 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00, May through August and weekends in April and September.

Official Guidebook
This 160-page book includes more than 170 full-color photographs. It will enliven and expand the experience of visiting Washington's home and will serve as a perfect remembrance of your tour. $7.00 includes tax.
Antenna Audio Tour
A lively narration enhances your tour of the Historic Area and the Donald W. Reynolds Museum. Kid-friendly information is included. Available at the Ford Orientation Center. $6 each.
Congressional Tours
Special congressional tours are offered daily at 8:45 a.m., April 1 through August 31, and they must be scheduled through your congressperson. The tour includes a 45-minute walk of the grounds and a tribute at Washington's tomb. The Mansion and other experiences are self-guided. Please contact your representative to make arrangements.
