Dolley Payne Todd Madison and Sarah Childress Polk

First Ladies of the United States (1809-1817). Madison was invited to visit Mount Vernon in 1805, prior to becoming First Lady, but was unable to go. Later went to Mount Vernon in 1845, after her time as First Lady, in the company of President and Mrs. Polk.
