600 Mount Vernon Dining Armoire
$3,300
In 1759, George Washington married the widow Martha Dandridge Custis, and before long, Washington’s orders for home furnishings dramatically increased, suggesting that his new bride was assisting him in the decoration and selection of furniture for their new home. Extravagance was not a hallmark of George Washington’s character or personality; the way he lived his life and the material possessions with which he surrounded himself reflected Washington’s graciousness and good taste. Caperton, one of Mount Vernon’s furniture licensees, has produced this lovely dining storage cabinet measuring 19”x 42”x 60” made in sustainably harvested maple and featuring the elegant “Bettina” finish.
