The most exciting way to become involved with Mount Vernon is through our dynamic and active membership program, The Friends of Mount Vernon. Through members-only events, lectures, newsletters, and volunteer opportunities, members have a forum to meet other admirers of George Washington, enjoy great benefits, and help to preserve Mount Vernon for future generations.
Membership entitles the donor to numerous benefits including free admission to the estate, discounts at the Mount Vernon Inn and The Shops at Mount Vernon, and a subscription to Mount Vernon's newsletter, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. By contributing to Mount Vernon, you are assuring that the life and legacy of George Washington are preserved for future generations.
The Neighborhood Friends of Mount Vernon program includes all neighbors who live on one of George Washington's original five farms (Virginia zip codes 22308, 22309, and 22121). These members take pride in being active participants in Mount Vernon's future by choosing and funding a special restoration or education project each year. For their 2005-2007 project, the Neighborhood Friends have chosen to fund the restoration of the Blacksmith Shop, which will open in Spring 2009.
The Mount Vernon One Hundred is extended to individuals who make annual gifts of cash, securities, or personal property valued at $5,000 to $9,999. This "members only" program offers truly unique opportunities to participate in some of Mount Vernon's most prestigious programs.
The Washington Council is extended to individuals who make annual gifts of cash, securities, or personal property valued at $10,000 or more. In addition to the benefits provided to Mount Vernon One Hundred members, those who join The Washington Council are encouraged to enhance their involvement with special opportunities at Mount Vernon.
