Your generous contributions have helped and will continue to help Mount Vernon fulfill its mission of preservation and education to the highest standards. Because of your kindness, we have educated millions of visitors and people throughout the world about the life and legacies of George Washington. Your support means that his examples of character and leadership will continue to inspire an untold number of future generations.
Your thoughtful gift of $25,000 or more this year entitles you to become a 2009 member of the 1732 Society, our special new annual-fund donor group. Commemorating the year in which the Father of Our Country was born, the 1732 Society offers its members special benefits – including special recognition at Mount Vernon events as well as in our publications.
The names of 1732 Society donors in 2008 will appear on a handsome 2009 plaque on a lobby wall of our new Ford Orientation Center. This is where more than one million visitors each year begin their Mount Vernon experience.
Names will appear for a period of one year until we place a new 2010 plaque with names of those who qualify for the 1732 Society donors with their 2009 donation of $25,000 or more. Donors to the 1732 Society in 2008 will also be recognized as having given $25,000 or more in our 2008 annual report and on our website.

Donations qualifying for the 1732 Society can come in the form of a donation of cash or stock – or even a charitable gift annuity with a charitable deduction portion of at least $25,000. More information about these types of gifts is available through our Development Office and appears online at mountvernon.org/specialgifts.
On Washington's Birthday weekend of 2008, we unveiled our inaugural 1732 Society plaque, which includes the names of 43 generous individuals and institutions who are being recognized for their gifts during 2007. Please look for this as you visit the Ford Orientation Center, the gateway for our more than one million visitors every year.
