| Mount Vernon 2006 Ornament, the Sleighride |
“The appearance of the Weather, reminds me of the use of a Sleigh ...,” wrote George Washington, December 16, 1782. For Washington, a moonlit winter sleigh ride alongside his wife, Martha was the perfect way to ring in the holiday season at Mount Vernon. “The Sleighride” captures this image and is a merry reminder that, for Washington, “…peace, with all the world is my sincerest wish.” This unusual ornament displays a beautiful blue, snowy sky on a concave backdrop with a three-dimensional image of the mansion and a sleigh in the foreground. The reverse side displays Washington’s quote, “…peace, with all the world is my sincerest wish.” This 2006 commemorative ornament measures 3 ½” in diameter. 24 kt Gold Finish with enamel details. Beautifully gift boxed including an educational enclosure card.
