This painting depicts Mount Vernon situated above the Potomac River as it appeared following the Civil War and after having been restored and protected by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association. Paul McGehee’s paintings have been described as pieces in which the viewer can look through a “window to the past”. His paintings of historical places always maintain historical accuracy, exude a quality of light from within the scene and are present in the collections of several former presidents. Autumn at Mount Vernon is 17” x 27 ½” and is available as one of 1800 signed and numbered prints. Two hundred additional remarqued versions with an original hand pencil drawing by the artist in the lower left border of the print are also available.
