The Key to the Bastille is the inspiration for the pattern on these beautifully woven pure silk ties. A symbol of freedom and liberty, the original key to the infamous French prison, the Bastille, was presented to George Washington 1790 by the Marquis de Lafayette, a leader of the French Revolution. Lafayette had served under Washington during the American Revolutionary War and they became lifelong friends. The ties were designed especially for George Washington’s Mount Vernon.
Tie width is 3 ¾”. Available in two colors:
Rich navy and dark red.
Two-toned light and dark french blue. Hand finished in the U.S.A.
